Receiving the final brief for photography and when looking a the brief the first though that i had come through was ‘What is actually home?’ This is something that has gone through my head and with asking other people what they think about this. I did get many various different answer. One person said different objects that you would find within a house. Another one said it was the thought of just being with family and friends was enough to feel at home. So home according to the oxford dictionary is that it is a place in which someone lives permanently, however is is also able to be a family or household. For me personally is that  ‘Home’ is just simply a word that is use everyday to show as somewhere i find is safe to be. This can be in many different places but for this brief i want to answer it differently with not explaining what home is for me but places in which people could consider as home and talk.

With the image that I a have taken I wanted to explores the different meaning behind them and why I did it as well. Starting off the with the first image; a picture that I have taken of my mother. For people that have family’s a partner a brother, sister, mother, father can influence when someone knows that they can be home. You can say that where you give a receive the feeling of love a respect is can feel like it is home. I found when asking some people what they though home meant for them, they said that it is where there friend and family would be. Which you could find is odd as if you where to be away from them do you feel at home? or is there something that you find is missing in fact? The first image I can find that also links with the 2nd image in the sequence above. Going to a Cemetery where loved one who have been laid to rest. When people are missing out of you life; with many family’s losing people from there households are the able to feel that living without seeing them everyday of there life is something that become abnormal. For people who have in some ways lost there ‘Soul Mate’ there home might not ever feel the same again as years of life where put into what had be built and with a single think (person or object) is taken away, is it the same?     

For people with children, coming home to them after a really hard and stressful day at work they find relief with seeing there faces when coming home. There is the debate with any adult with children that when coming home you have to then cook and clean and make dinner and other house chores that have to be done. But for people who like to spend time with there family members. With this image what i wanted to capture was the though of children tucked up in there bed. This for many people with children they find that they can spend some quiet time together with reading bedtime story’s or even have a talk about how they are feeling. The lighting with in the thin the image was natural window light. However with the original image it was very much a more cold image with having the colour pallet of  grey’s and blues. What i did to change this was adjust the colour balance with bring in more of the warm colour such as reds and yellows. 

 

 

A business when thought about can be considered as a home with the though of someone starting from the ground base to build a successful working environment. It has been a growing network of setting up the shop watching it grow from having one costumer to two costumers to then 10 and so on and so forth. The thought that you have created an environment that you think other people would like to come to that make them feel welcome relaxed and in there own type of home. 

Another reason that a business might feel like home is that it could be a family business that has been past on from person to person. The rich history that the place has create from the start sets a link to what what the family had before everything started growing. What i think a business shows from looking at what is home, you could say it meeting new people to enjoy the experience you are giving them and also enjoying you own history that you might have created for the place.

Home you doesn’t say that you particularly mean that you have to be in a brick house with 4 walls it can actually be a place where you can find peace with a belief that you people could hold very close to there heart. For some people religion they can feel that it is the only thing in which they have in the world. A trust that they have built through having time to think and reflex about everything on there own mind. For any religion being in a sanctuary that they feel there is not harm that it to fall upon them. With the sense of having something for someone the believe in can actually give them  a view of clarity. With this image i want to produce the feeling of open space and that there is freedom with in the space. What I do like about this image is how you have the use of a fore ground, mid ground, and background. Such as the chairs being the fore ground and then the mid ground being the arch ways and then the background being the main large arch with the organ showing it rich dark colour  to making it stand out.   

When you think of all these different aspect of what could be there is still this one big part that has to be taken into perspective if someone it to feel like they are at home there is the sense of travel which I wanted to show in this image with lowering the the shutter speed to create this image with car head light; giving the though of movement and speed. for someone in day to day life you are having to leave you home for an amount of time. However even if you are like the definition in the oxford dictionary but not happy there traveling to where you are has to be taken. Another point to make is that some people in face live of the road with the van as that what there job causes for them to go away from.

So when you are trying to simply think  what is home. Well it is in fact many different thinks that are all different for people and not just one simple brick structure is the ‘HOME’ for a single person.
